Abstract
This study evaluated the efficacy of acupuncture treatment in women with menstrual irregularities and amenorrhea following medium to long-term (18 months to 5 years) use of oral contraceptives. The acupoints selected for treatment were chosen according to the nature of the energetic imbalance according to Chinese medical theory. Treatment evaluation parameters included general condition; presence, regularity and character of menstrual flow; basal body temperature and midcycle LH levels. Results: Regular menstrual cycles resumed in 32 (84%) of the 38 subjects.
